I’m always envious of the people (namely, my mom) who can perfectly match every piece of their outfit together. From the heel of her shoe to the jewels dangling from her ears, she puts an outfit together with perfection in mind. When it comes to a tonal look, especially a neutral look (all grey, all beige, all navy), she is the queen.
I am quite the opposite in many respects. We often get in a funny spats about my inability (though she would call it stubbornness) to match colors or patterns. That said, this is my Chelsea “nothing ever matches” spin on a the Susan, “I perfectly match every outfit” Special.
I got this dress on sale from TopShop for $20 on one of those Sunday’s when I needed an excuse to leave the house and ended up spending 2 hours at TopShop. Now keep in mind, I’m 5’10” so this is more of a top than anything. But I love to style it in so many ways.
From cigarette pants paired with black flats, to leggings and booties, to these pristine OTN boots. Because its winter and I prefer to not lose my upper half to the cold, I added a simple black turtleneck.
The boots are from ASOS and I haven’t taken them off since the day they arrived. S/o to my sister Emma for being an ASOS pro and snagging these before they sell out.
Now for the coat. I am and will forever be a two coat person. I physically can’t just wear one. But this year, I decided I needed to do two things: 1) Buy an actual winter coat (all of mine are vintage or from Goodwill and have a lot of ware) 2) Buy it bigger so I can still fit my little leather jacket underneath on those freezing Chicago days. To add to my list of mandatories, I decided early on that I wanted to buy one that would stand out amongst the black Canadian Goose parkas. So, here we are. I snagged this puffer from ASOS for less than $80! Yep, you heard me.
