STYLE: Slice of Babe Pie

Creating custom pieces has always been a goal of mine. When I go on buying trips for Big Red, I always pick out a few pieces that I know I can re-invent into something new. And when the craze of patches and quotes on jackets arrived, I wanted in.

I have a note on my phone with a scrolling list of phrases I love and this one is by far my favorite. Clearly I’m obsessed with the word “babe” enough to brand it on my clothes.¬†Unfortunately for me, my artistry skills are few and far between so I had to call in the experts, aka my bff Therese, to do the handy work.

This particular shirt was a vintage men’s button up that I cut in half to a cropped top. We used fabric paint to draw on the phrase. Simple as that.

I’m hoping to get into more custom pieces soon. I’ve done a few custom jackets and jeans with patches that you can see on my Big Red Instagram, but stay tuned for more soon. In the meantime, check out the rest of this look.

These are one of the best vintage jeans I’ve ever owned. They’re Calvin Klein and they fit me like a hug.

Isn’t this coat rad? It’s one of my new favorite pieces from ASOS.

Before we started the paint job, I cut the shirt to an oh so popular cropped top – something I’ll probably stat doing more often.

I completed the look with an ode to my favorite flick – The Wizard of OZ. Wicked witch anyone?
